Weepers, Lord R Dormer Monument

Alabaster figures from the monument to Lord Robert Dormer and his family; built in 1616; All Saints Church, Wing

The alabaster figures were heavily soiled with dirt, dust and other undesirable surface accretions. Careful removal of the soiling was undertaken. It was done in stages using different conservation treatment methods to ensure that the best and the most appropriate treatment was chosen. As a result, the soiling was successfully removed from the surface and it also revealed the original surviving polychromy (paint scheme).
