Lord R Dormer Monument

Polychrome Coats of Arms from the monument to Lord Robert Dormer and his family; built after his death in 1616; carved in alabaster

The polychromy (painted surface) was heavily soiled with dirt, dust and other undesirable surface accretions. Careful removal of the soiling was undertaken. It was done in stages using different conservation treatment methods to ensure the best and the most sympathetic treatment. As a result, the soiling was successfully removed revealing the original polychromy (paint scheme).
